Ambassador Shaida Mohammad Abdali paid a visit to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand on 31st July 2017.

This visit was aimed at meeting the IMA commandants to discuss the Afghan military cadets, their training programs and to meet the Afghan gentlemen cadets to know about their studies and their routine practices at the academy.  

At the start of the visit, the Afghan Ambassador met with Lt Gen. SK Upadhya, the IMA Commandant, Maj. Gen. JS Nehra the Deputy Commandant and Brig. TK, BGS at the latter’s office.

Dr. Abdali thanked the IMA for accepting Afghan cadets in their prestigious military academy and expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Academy for providing sound learning environment for the young Afghan cadets.   

Lt Gen. SK Upadhya asserted satisfaction over the training flow of the Afghan trainees and emphasized on IMA’s readiness for training more military cadre of Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the Afghan Ambassador met with the Afghan gentle cadets in the academy to discuss their progress and their training flow and subsequently awarded certificates to those cadets who had better achievements in different fields of their training. It is worth mentioning that currently there are 136 Afghan Gentlemen cadets trained in the IMA.
