Members of the Provincial Council of Herat Province visited India during December 8-14, 2012. During the four-day tour, they visited a number of agriculture, agribusiness, and solar energy sites, examining how they can benefit from the expertise and experience of India’s various states. They exchanged views with local Indian authorities in an effort to initiate sister-city relations. They also met with the Indian Ministry of External Relations, and expressed the gratitude of the people of Herat to the Indian government for a number of aid projects supported and implemented by India in the province.

Chairman of the Provincial Council Dr. Abdul Zaher Faiz-zada and members of the Council visited the Embassy and met with Ambassador Abdali and his deputy, Mr. Haidari, discussing their experience in India.  The Ambassador assured them of the Embassy’s full support in helping the province of Herat initiate the first sister-city relationship with one of India’s cities, as an effort to further enhance people-to-people contacts between Afghanistan and India.
