The second Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting between Afghanistan and India was held on August 8, 2018 in Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi.  The JWG meeting focused on human resource development, cultural and education cooperation under the framework of Strategic Partnership Agreement of 2011 between Afghanistan and India.

 The meeting was chaired by Sayeeda Muzhgan Mustafawi, the Deputy Minister of Administration and Tourism, Ministry of Information and Culture of I. R. of Afghanistan and Riva Ganguly Das, General Director – ICCR and was participated by the government officials and representatives from both the nations.

 During the opening remarks the chairs of the meeting discussed and assessed about, the achievements and progress of the first meeting of Joint Working Group between the two countries. This included building a professional film institute, holding professional trainings for the Afghan National Museum staff, technical assistance in building capacities of the Cricket Board of Afghanistan and providing the team with a stadium in New Delhi, an increase in scholarships for Afghan youth as well as educational programs by ICCR.

During the meeting, both the sides discussed about the new proposals on health, tourism, education, higher education, Afghan cricket, Afghan National Radio & TV, collaboration with Indian TV channels, women’s affairs, culture and more. 

At the end, it was decided by both the sides to prepare proposals for the same and discuss them in the upcoming Kabul meeting which is scheduled be held on November 13, 2018.
