Sanjay Dave, Chairman-Surakshit Khadya Abiyan Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Sam Thomas John, Counsellor-Food & Agriculture Centre of Excellence, CII met with Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali, the Ambassador of Afghanistan to India at the latter’s office on April 4, 2018.

The meeting aimed at discussing opportunities for the ‘13th Food Safety and Quality Summit’ which is scheduled to be held from 13-14 December, 2018.  

Bringing to light the relevance of the summit, themed on “Managing Product Integrity, Regulatory and Food Safety Solutions in the Food Chain for Consumer Health and Safety”, CII has placed an invitation for Afghanistan’s participation.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdali proposed for a joint meeting between Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and CII in New Delhi or Kabul to discuss cooperation between the two nations based on the agreement between ACCI and CII.

The Afghan Ambassador also suggested to have an Afghan business house in India as a one stop destination for communication and marketing of Afghan goods and products.

Briefing the Afghan Ambassador on a quiz competition by Surakshit Khadya Abiyan (SKA) for students as part of the invitees to upgrade competence at the student level on food safety, the CII officials informed about their invitation to Afghan university students to participate in the quiz too and solicited the Afghan Embassy’s cooperation in following this as well as Afghanistan’s participation in forthcoming CODEX Conference-2019 with the Afghan Government.

Dr. Abdali assured the CII officials on Afghan Embassy’s follow up with the Central Government regarding participation of Afghanistan in Food Safety Summit, CODEX Conference-2019 as well as participation of the Afghan Students in the quiz competition.
