Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali, the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in India spoke at the South Asia Human Rights Summit, supported by Holy Vision International held at Constitutional Club, New Delhi on March 23, 2018.

In the opening remarks, the Afghan Ambassador conveyed the participants strong commitment of the Afghan government towards human rights as well as the women’s rights protection and highlighted on the achievements Afghanistan post-2001.

Referring to further promoting the human rights in Afghanistan and finding ways for a solution to address the current challenges in terms of protecting the human rights, Dr. Abdali said: “We believe that youth are powerful agents of change and empowering rural communities is key to the empowerment of society on human rights protection”.

Terming education as one of the keys to protect human rights, Ambassador Abdali lauded India and international community and civil society’s role in assisting to educate Afghan youth.

During his speech, the Afghan Ambassador emphasized on the necessity of peace and stability in order to fully protect human rights.

It is worth mentioning that Afghanistan was elected as member state of the UN Human Rights Council for the first from the period of 2018 to-2021.
