H.E. Gonchig Ganbold, the Ambassador of Mongolia to India met with Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali, the Ambassador of Afghanistan to India at the latter’s office on January 24, 2018.

Besides discussing the bilateral ties between the two nations, the meeting also aimed at seeking Afghan Embassy’s cooperation in order to introduce a national representative to participate in the Board of Governors of the International Think Tank (IIT) for Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC).

At the outset, the duo spoke about the bilateral ties between the two nations. Dr. Abdali noted upon the historical relations as well as commonalities between Afghanistan and Mongolia, specially the fact that both the nations are landlocked.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Mongolia briefed the Afghan Ambassador on the concept of the IIT for LLDC. The IIT for LLDC was established after the International Ministerial Conference of Landlocked and Transit Developing Countries and International Financial and Development Institutions on Transit Transport Cooperation, held in Almaty, Kazakhstan in 2003.

The IIT for LLDC aims at promoting cooperation, understanding and networking between the landlocked countries of the world.

The Ambassador of Mongolia solicited the Afghan Embassy for its cooperation in introducing a national representative by the government of Afghanistan to participate in IIT for LLDC forums.

Dr. Abdali, in response assured the Ambassador of Mongolia of conveying his message to the government of Afghanistan.

It is worth mentioning that Hamid Tahzeeb, the First Secretary to the Embassy of Afghanistan was also present in the meeting.
