Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali, the Ambassador of Afghanistan to India met with representatives of Women for Afghan Women (WAW) on January 22, 2018 in New Delhi.

This meeting was aimed for the WAW representatives to brief the Afghan Ambassador on its activities in and out of Afghanistan and in order to solicit the Embassy’s support in reaching out the Afghan women residing in India.

At the outset, Manizha Naderi, the Executive Director of the WAW informed the Afghan Ambassador about the mission of WAW organization. Aiming at security and protection of the disenfranchised Afghan women’s rights in Afghanistan and New York, WAW is working on advocating women about their rights and is challenging the norms that underpin gender-based violence.

During the meeting, the representatives of the WAW organization supplicated Afghan Embassy’s support and help in approaching the Afghan women in India in order to conduct a survey to discover their essential needs.

Dr. Abdali lauded WAW’s efforts in bringing a positive change in Afghan women’s lives in Afghanistan and New York and welcomed their plan in working for Afghan women in India. He added: “We have always been appreciative and supportive towards such movements which comes up with a shift in Afghan women and children’s lives living in and out of the county”.

Ambassador Abdali assured the WAW representatives of the Embassy’s full support and solicited the representatives of WAW to come up with a formal request in order to implement the plans on the ground.

Founded in 2001 in New York, WAW’s vision is to work towards a world in which Afghan women and girls enjoy peace, justice, equality and the freedoms to participate in all spheres of life and live without fear.
