Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali, the Ambassador of Afghanistan to India participated as a keynote speaker at a roundtable themed “Role of Regional Powers in Shaping the Future of Afghanistan”, organized by the Delhi Policy Group on December 6, 2017.

The roundtable kicked off with a welcome note by Ambassador H.K. Singh, Director General, Delhi Policy Group and opening remarks by Brig. Arun Sehgal, Senior Fellow, Delhi Policy Group.

The Afghan Ambassador noted upon the current status of the world and the uncertainties, mainly in South Asia and Afghanistan.

Dr. Abdali also spoke about the role of regional countries, mainly Pakistan-Russia-China and Iran in the evolving regional situation, particularly in the backdrop of United States new policy for South Asia and Afghanistan and added that a comprehensive mechanism to implement the new US policy is needed in order to succeed.

The Afghan Ambassador stressed over India’s cooperation with Afghanistan to bring a regional consensus among the countries of the region to fight state sponsorship and terrorism.

It is worth mentioning that the Afghan Ambassador was accompanied by Hamid Tahzeeb, the First Secretary of the Embassy and Mohammad Wakil Elham, the Second Secretary of the Embassy.
