Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali delivered a speech on “Indo-Afghan Relations and Recent Trends” at the Civil Services Officer’s Institute (CSOI) on 5th November 2017, in New Delhi.

At the outset, the Afghan Ambassador termed the relations between the people of India and Afghanistan as historical and deep-rooted and appreciated India’s assistance to Afghanistan over different courses of history, post-2001 in particular.

The Afghan Ambassador, during his address, spoke about the’ Strategic Partnership Agreement’ as the framework of cooperation between India and Afghanistan.

Lauding the outcomes of the 2nd Strategic Partnership Council Meeting held on December this year, Ambassador Abdali conveyed his gratitude to India for extending its assistance to Afghanistan.

Dr. Abdali also noted upon regional connectivity and emphasized on its significance and added that projects such as CASA-1000, TAPI and CHABAHAR Port will further enhance the connectivity between the South Asian and Central Asian countries.

During the speech, the Afghan Ambassador also pointed upon the new US strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia and stressed on the importance of a mechanism through which the strategy is implemented.

He also touched upon the India-US-Afghanistan trilateral meeting and added: “The joint India-US-Afghanistan cooperation, aimed at bringing stability to the region and creating a regional consensus, which is extremely important.”

It is worth mentioning that CSOI is a society registered firm which was set up in 1998. It aims at promoting the welfare of the officers of the Civil Services and is organizing seminars, symposiums, talks and debates to meet the needs and challenges of the modern day civil administration.
