Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of Afghanistan met with Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India on 28 September, 2017. 

The President of India welcomed the Afghan Chief Executive and his accompanying delegation to India and stated that Afghanistan is not only a strategic partner of India but holds a significant place in our hearts’.

President Kovind also stated Indo-Afghan relations especially, the economic ties are of immense importance for India and the trade show “Passage to Prosperity” is a step ahead to further boost the embedded relation between the two nations.

Appreciating the warm welcome by the Indian government and people, the Afghan Chief Executive termed India as one of the trusted strategic partners who has stood for Afghanistan in different phases of history and never hesitated in providing assistance to Afghanistan and its people.

Referring to the developmental projects such as India-Afghanistan Friendship Dam (Salma) and construction of building for National Council of Afghanistan, the Afghan Chief Executive emphasized on the continuation of cooperation between the two nations and included that the ‘Passage to Prosperity’ Trade Exhibition and conference is another step towards strengthening the economic ties and boosting investment and trade between both the nations.
