Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of Afghanistan met with Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister on 29 September, 2017 in New Delhi.

The Prime Minster of Indi welcomed the Afghan CE and his accompanying delegation to India and spoke about the friendly relationship between India and Afghanistan. While referring to his last trip to Afghanistan, the Indian PM stated that it has further cemented and created an emotional bonding with the Afghan people.

Thanking Indian Government’s hospitality, the Afghan CE extended gratitude and appreciated India’s humanitarian assistance especially PM Modi’s support.

Highlighting the new US strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia, Dr. Abdullah stated that this strategy will have positive implications and create avenues to tackle terrorism and bring peace and security in the region.

The Afghan CE thanked India for hosting the “Passage to Prosperity” exhibition and solicited the Indian PM to create more business opportunities for Afghan traders in India and facilitate Indian Businesses to invest in Afghanistan.

During this meeting, the Indian PM assured of continued Indian assistance to Afghanistan in different areas and India will also be cooperating with Afghanistan in building capacities, trade and investment.

PM Modi assured Indian government’s full support to the Afghan traders and solicited his government to further cooperate with the Afghan business entities. He also hoped that the soon to be operationalized Chabahar Port would solve the transit difficulties between Indian and Afghanistan and with other regional countries.
